Why Good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is Important

Many people new to internet marketing wonder why search engine optimization, or SEO, is so important. In explaining why, this article could be very short or very long, according to how much of the topic I wish to write on, although the answer is basically a matter of common sense..

Anybody who uses search engines to find out information, which is the vast majority of internet users, uses phrases to find the information they are seeking These phrases, to them, best describe the information they seek. Thus, if the are looking for information on what to look for when buying a second hand car they might use the term ‘buying second hand cars’, or ‘buying used cars’, or ‘how to buy used cars’ and so on. Each of these terms is commonly termed a ‘keyword’, and searching for the most used keywords, or even lesser used keywords, is big business on the internet If you have a website, or even just one web page, dealing with that topic, you can optimize it only for one of these keywords if you want the bets results. Many people make the mistake of trying to optimize a webpage for all the keywords they can think of, totally ignorant of the fact that if they have 20 keywords then they should have 20 web pages, each optimized for one keyword.
Some people make millions of dollars explaining to others how to find and use these keywords on their websites, even though it is historical information. Yesterdays most frequently used keyword could never be used again for the rest of the year. Let me give you an example of that.
When I was new to internet marketing, I wrote a website to sell my trivia quizzes. I run trivia quizzes in my local pub, and at that time also sold them to pubs in nearby towns and cities and wrote a book on how to go about it. I decided to advertise it online and also to sell my trivia quizzes. I paid $6,500 for a mentor from Corey Rudl’s Internet Marketing Center to teach me how to do it, and I was shown how to use keyword research to publicise my book.
My mentor ended up recommending I use the keyword ‘black american history quiz’ since it had a very high demand and low supply: so I did. Silly me! He was Canadian, and he didn’t know that the word ‘quiz’ in the USA can also apply to a school exam, and the ‘black american history quiz’ was in demand by American high school kids for an exam on the topic.
I spent a fortune and made zilch. That is the last time I paid for information, and I was ripped off by the late Corey Rudl and his so-called Internet Marketing Center. At least that is my experience. It was only later that I found I could have got the same information free by registering for a few newsletters from other marketers.
I ended up losing many thousands of dollars through that experience, and using the bad information I was given, and am only now making up for it. That is the importance of knowing how to use SEO in your website. Learn how to select and use proper keywords, and do not be mislead by trends or spikes due to high school exams or current news as I was.
There are techniques to use to ensure that your website gets traffic from people browsing the web for information. If you know these techniques, you can make money from any topic, or niche, even if you personally know nothing about it. I have many websites on a number of topics, each of which makes me money in many different ways. There is no reason why you should do the same.
However, to do that, you must learn how to optimize each of the pages on your website. Stop regarding the site as an entity. It is the collection of pages that is important, each of those of which has to be treated as a separate entity. Every page will be listed separately in the search engines, and you need to know how to treat each differently, and how to optimize each so that every one will be listed in the search results when somebody uses your keyword to find the information they are seeking.
Good search engine optimization is very important, and without a good understanding of SEO, your internet business will have less a chance of successBy Peter Nisbet

How To Build A Reputable Online Marketing Business

Any type of professional that has a successful business has one common area regardless of the type of goods or services that they offer. It is the fact that they have built a solid reputation for themselves in the field. This applies to both traditional businesses as well as those that operate online. If you don’t establish yourself as being trustworthy with your customers you will find that they have no loyalty to your business.
If you are in the business of offering online marketing services to other businesses, then your reputation is going to play a vital role in the success you have. Those businesses that place their marketing needs into your hands are relying on you to find ways to improve the volume of sales they are currently experiencing. They look to you for leadership and commitment to helping their business, not just to make a profit for your own business. You will find professionals all over the internet in one form or another.
Some of them offer goods while others are offering services. You will also discover that advertisements for businesses that are in brick and mortar form are also found all over the internet. They way in which your information is presented is going to determine if others see you as a professional business or not. It is going to take time to build up a solid relationship with your customers so you need to be patient. Continually offer them material that can help them such as free newsletters so that they feel you are working to help them accomplish their own goals. Take the information you have knowledge of and share it. If you borrow material from other sources make sure they are very reliable or you are putting your credibility on the line. There are some key areas you want to focus on in order to built a quality reputation for your online marketing business. Make sure you convey a very positive attitude from day one. Your information should be accurate but you want to put as positive of a spin on it as you can. The customer service you offer is going to say a great deal about how you operate your business. Make sure you answer questions and resolve customer complaints as quickly and as effectively as possible. Make sure you take the time to thank your customers for being part of your business. It is very important that they feel appreciated all the time, not just when they have made a purchase from you. Always be very sincere with the praise you do extend because it will be a very important part of the relationship you build with them. Strive to be honest with your customers at all times. If mistakes do happen then you need to be willing to make things right. They will appreciate your willingness to take responsibility instead of covering it up or pretending that it didn’t happen. If you take extra steps to help customers they will always remember it. While consumers expect quality service you can go beyond that to really capture their attention. This is an excellent way to fuel customer loyalty. If you find areas of common complaints from your customers let them know you are working on them. They will appreciate your attention to their needs. This may result in having to offer refunds to customers that aren’t happy. While you may not be happy yourself about doing this it can help you encourage them to make a future purchase. It also prevents them from writing negative information about your business practices for other people to see. This can affect future sales for you because many consumers conduct such research before they make a final decision. Everything that you present about your website and your business needs to be professional and in good taste. Make sure you have checked the accuracy of the information including spelling and grammar. You never want to engage in marketing tactics that sabotage your competition so play the game fair and you will gain their respect as well as that of consumers that use the internet to get their needs met.

Social Bookmarking & SEO

Social bookmarking is a new trend in search engine optimization, which has gained recognition as part of a new type of website optimization, termed “social media optimization (SMO).” Social Book marking, also referred to sometimes as “social bookmarketing”, is the term used for bookmarking sites on the web and sharing them with friends. It is similar to bookmarking a site on your pc, in the “favorites” of your web browser.
There is an increasing number of websites available on the web that provides this as a free service for bookmarking your sites or blogs on the web. These sites are known as social bookmarking sites. Once you have created a free account, you may begin adding bookmarks to your account. The advantage is that once you have bookmarked any site then you can access them from anywhere on the web, and also share them with friends. These are some popular social bookmarking site: del.icio.us, Digg.com, Simpy.com, blogmarks.net, feedmarker.com, myweb2.search.yahoo.com, lookmarks.com, bluedot.com, furl.net and etc. So how is social bookmarking useful for SEO you ask? Social bookmarking sites are “tag based”- which means you can “tag” them with keywords so your visitors that bookmark your site can find them easily later. Search engines index these tags, as well as the link, so you are essentially getting free one-way links from high-traffic sites, with all of your keywords attached to them! It is a great way to get your website visitors working for you. However, choosing proper tag names is critical and plays a very important roles if you want to truly get social book marking to work for you in your search engine optimization process. The interesting thing is that there are no limitations for the number of tags you can attach to your link. The extent to which you declare tags will allow for your site’s information to be stored. Additionally, when someone bookmarks your site, the bookmarking site checks the tags to see if the link already exists. So by periodically changing your bookmark tags, you can get multiple links with different tags on the same site. In other words, your site will be stored in different pages and you will get links from the different pages of the same sites. Because these sites are regularly crawled by search engines, your site will most likely also be crawled more often by having bookmarked links on these websites.By Amit Kothiyal
